Who's a scoundrel

I have heard that many purported "agents" are royal rip off artists.

I have heard that many contests are corrupt, deceitful and rigged.

I once read that there was a certain organization that decent agents were a member of. I don't remember the name of that organization. In any event, the piece of advice said that one should try to avoid agents who are not on that list or affiliateed with that organization.

Questions:

1) If my assertion in the last paragraph is correct, what is the Name of that organization and how do I determine who is in that organization.

Remove all doubt about your agent's integrity.
Self publish.

Did spell check really let you get away with "affiliateed"?

I mean I'm lookin' at a viscious (oops, another red line - better check that one out with search - there it is - vicious - okay, got it) vicious jagged red line here and I ain't got no app 'cept what is provided by this site for free.

Agents are essentially parasites. If you want to waste your life chasing a less exploitative one then have at it. But honestly, you'd be better off working on your writing and getting it published however you can. One thing agents excel at is spotting a nice little earner so if there's money to be made they will beat a path to your door.
