Default Dave W - New in town, dropping by to meet the neighbors.

Hello Scribblers, I am a long time writer who started early on with the large block letter crayon format on construction paper. I've recently graduated to using a computer. In between I did a bit of writing, mostly fiction, some poetry. A lot has changed, when it comes to my writing, during those in between years. Although my spelling has prety much stayed the sayme.
I was introduced to creative writing at a federal prison in the great state of Florida. I was the senior warden at the institution.......Okay that's a lie (fiction's the preferred noun), I was serving a ten year sentence on fraud charges. Oh well, I would have loved to continue on with the "warden" story, but what the heck, likely my years at the Cross Bar Hotel have even been good fodder for the storybook.
I have a passion for both reading and writing short fiction. My very world changed in that prison when my future mentor showed up to begin a writers workshop and gifted me a copy of Raymond Carver's short story collection. Wow....I was a high school dropout, sitting in one of the country's most violent prisons, and those stories took me to the other side of the wall. Yes they did.
Anyhoo....now I'm an upstanding, if not under the radar, citizen of Chicago's north side, where I live with my long suffering sweet girlfriend, work hard at a consulting firm, worship the Cubs, and sneak in some lines of fiction (on paper not to my girlfriend) four or five early a.m's a week.
So I've said all that to say this: I'm glad to be here with you nice folks, and I look forward to reading some of your work.

Welcome,

Do you think the Cubs can do it again next year?😀

Ten years, huh? Must've been some fraud.

LoL.....Thank you for the welcome.....(would've gotten back sooner, still kinda getting used to navigating my way around this site), and OHHHHH Yes I do indeed believe The Cubs can repeat, but I'm, as a life long MLB fan, well aware of all that goes into winning the W.S ...Injuries being a big factor. Cubs were quite fortunate, some luck and great trainers, when it came to that. But yeah, I mean look at The Cards, they've gone years and years leading the division nearly all the time. We have have talent, and certainly that young enthusiasm that says why not us.........But ya never know, do ya. Looking forward to opening day.
Yep, it was a lot of fraud. But I'd had some legal wrinkles (if you will) in my youth that didn't help mitigate when it came to sentencing. Hard to believe it was me. Crazy. Did lots of writing though.

Hey Dave, I have a great novel for you, Far Beyond Heaven, by Paul Moore. You can find it on Amazon. I'm the publisher and the author is a fascinating guy who actually did work in a prison, and a church, and a funeral home. Some really wild stuff in his book. I'm certain you'll be entertained.

Also, if you're interested in publishing your fiction look into Fatdogbooks.com. Search it on Google. We are actively seeking new manuscripts.
