Default Ars longa vita brevis

ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS

Dead Kittens in the road
centered, side by side, in the two eastbound lanes
mercifully short ( fifty yards or so ) of a bus stop
packed with professionally dressed young ladies,
resplendent in the morning sun.

Dead Kittens in the road
pasted there by a random Peterbilt
and it's dirt encrusted driver,
at three am this morning.

The creator pauses,
and then with a final dab of godly brush
steps back to admire the scene.

The rest of us try, desperately swerving,
to look where we want to go
instead of at the beauty of creation.

Art is long
Life is short

Hello, Kitty
Bye bye, kitties

Look, Ma
I can count to nine

Poetry is everywhere. Even when life gives you the finger nine times.

Vere tu es deus absconditus

a friend of mine is a physicist and one day when he was explaining quantum mechanics to me he said everything was so counterintuitive and the meaning so utterly absent except which we provide, and that being ephemeral anyways, and so told me the best way he could make sense of the universe was to consider it a work of art however inscrutable it might be. And that's one of the great daunting tasks of our time is to see meaning or to accept that there might be some for something for so horrible. I think worse than there being no cause for the tragedies that happen in life is that there actually is one.

The poem does well with this.

Thank you Blue. Yes there is a cause for tragedy, also for victory, joy, freedom, justice, accomplishment, and all other amazing aspects of life on Earth. The inscrutability of it depends on one's ability to perceive Divine influence on the earthly plane ( aka "art" ), and that as you have noted, varies considerably among individuals.

I'm pleased that you got it though. I was beginning to think I'd lost my touch.
