Heart attack from illness?
I have determined that Alma, a major character in my Kepler Bb story, will have a heart attack in chapter 9 when she gets a fast onset of an illness I made called viral TB. I based it off of the real thing but with some major symptom differences. Now her immune system will eventually destroy all the viruses so she won't die from immunocompromization(I don't think it is a real word but basically her immune system will stay strong). In fact, she will survive, even in this cardiac phase.
She and the rest of her kind have 2 separate hearts and circulatory systems. Usually, only one of them has problems and the other is able to compensate really well. In fact, to help prevent heart attacks from happening, each heart has 2 sets of coronary arteries. 1 of them, the primary, comes from the same aorta as the heart being supplied(so right primary from right aorta and vice versa). The other one, the secondary, comes from the opposite aorta as the heart being supplied. Usually, hypertrophy and these secondary coronary arteries are enough to stop a heart attack from happening. The 2 hearts is also so that other vital organs such as the brain get the oxygen they need to function.
Now I am wanting 2 things from you guys. First I am wondering how I should go about showing that Alma has chest pain a few days before the heart attack. Second, I want to know how she would experience the heart attack and to help answer that question,I will put a poll on this thread. It will include 5 defined types of heart attack and an other category. If you vote for other, don't be afraid to tell me what it is and why.
