Default Poet's Fashion

In this endless cycle of fashion,
The poets rise in praise
of whatever is the moments craze,
chanting words with pompous passion.

But empty are the hearts of men
who follow fads and latest trends,
who in truth cannot defend
the whims of such a fickle pen.

And when their verse no longer rhymes
with what fashion now dictates,
they hear the chorus of their fate;
You did not speak, you merely mimed.

I first got into poetry through anthologies, and I'm sure I've read in one of them (whims and fickle pen) second verse, last line. Has anyone come across something like it? I can't remember which poem I read it in. or even if I have. Any info is welcome.

Can't delete Poet's Fashion just to Fashion. Any mod passing through would like to change it......appreciated.

I love how you rhyme the first sentence with the last sentence making the middle two sentences to rhyme as well. Great job!

I bow to you sir - nicely done.

So pleased to have another rhymer wandering these corridors.

I look forward to your next offering.
