Literary magazine will not accept work posted to web sites (like this forum)
Just as an fyi in case some of you do not know this - I never really thought about it before now. Over the weekend I submitted a poem to a literary magazine in the hopes that they will eventually publish it. Their publication rules were what I would expect (not published prior, not on web sites, etc). Luckily I had not posted this poem to this forum but I easily could have. It would be nice if this whole site were locked down so nothing could be googled but I can definitely see the benefit to being open.
That seems a little harsh. It would be easy to post something on a forum, like this one, while it was a work in progress. Then, later on submit it for publication as a finished product.
My opinion is that many sites who claim that putting work anywhere on the Web with a copyright notice are not clear on copyright law. Are you sure you want your work on such a site?
Have a nice writing day.
