I'm all drove.

This is a discussion about new definitions of old words.

I teach, so I hear this word everyday. I know the new meaning, but do any of you? A few minutes ago, I was really drove.

Never heard the word used that way. And my trusty WordWeb dictionary/thesaurus lists three definitions that don't apply.

Don't keep us in suspense. What does it mean?

I was wrong? Crap, then I have no clue. Maybe drunk, or high.

Used in context, "Ooooo, Mr. Harrison's so drove he's about to bust a vein."

The veins in my neck and forehead are the ones they see when I am getting drove.

OW, you're correct. It is the new term for when someone is mad or getting mad. Next term to come when I get back home.

I was the closest...wait so veins, or pissed No, see, now you live in LA so I guess everywhere is different. I just asked people in class and someone else had heard it and said "tired" and I called my bro and he's younger and in Boise and they use it as "stressed." Kind of weird, but I guess that's how Idaho and Oregon are.

To put a spin on it I told them, one time, "I'm so drove, I'm went." I was substituting for the Histrory teacher, and her students gave me a look. I wanted to show them that I can create a meaning for a word totally unexpected.

Odd, drove here means to clown or kid or tease someone.

"Oh, I totally drove Billy today, he was crying."

Hm, you have some weird students, we don't say that down here. And yes, everyone who isn't like me is officially weird.

I never heard the term either Dephere until I asked about it with friends and family in Idaho. So I guess we're both weird.

I hear it more from the regular ed. students than mine. I hear it more from inner city students than rural.

All the new words I hear are used on WOW and are probably too rude to post in this discussion!

How about "drink the kool-aid," as in "not all of them are going to drink the kool-aid."

drinking the kool aid -
means buying in to the stories someone tells as in, with a cult group, when people believe all the brainwashing - thus when the leader decides it's time to die, everyone willingly drinks the poisoned kool aid

I've heard that before (which is perhaps evidence that I watch a bit too much Fox News - liberals please don't kill me!)
