Hey everyone. There seem to be quite a lot of rules for this place. Anyway, I just started writing a little bit of fiction. Several years ago I wrote a few short screenplays that were never made, but otherwise I've been limited to academic writing. So yeah, ask questions, so I can get to 5 posts and eventually give you all something to critique.

So, what is your favorite genre of reading and writing?

Hmm...I read nonfiction almost exclusively. Mostly I read memoirs, biographies, and a lot of academic writing; I'm grad student, what can I do? Every so often I'll pick up a novel but it isn't the norm for me.

My writing has been fiction, the little of it that I've produced. Usually it closely mirrors some of my reality, or I'm using people I know as characters because it seems to be an easier method for a beginner.

What do you like to read? And tell me about what you do. Hell, PM some of your work if you're so inclined. I'd love to see what others are doing.
