There have been so many stories which caused me to laugh and some of them weren't written for laughs. Or, I should say, were written because they choose to laugh instead of cry.
When I feel down in the dumps I always go to You Tube and the many George Carlin Standups there.
When I read your post I immediately thought of "I Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me" by Richard Farina.
Most of Thompson's stuff works for me. Terry Southern's take on making a high budget dirty movie always leaves me feeling better. I'm not sure, but I think it's titled "Blue Movie."
Ah, hell. There are so many that I can't take the time to recall them.
These days I go out of my way to listen to Donald Duck and I laugh my ass off. Not because he's funny. I laugh at the current state of consciousensness of his followers. At first I wanted to cry, but then i got in touch with my perverse humor and now I have fun listening to him. It boggles my mind that so many cannot recognize a huckster selling snake oil.
If you want to suggest writer's laughing instead of crying I'd love to hear your suggestions.
You're not dead 'til you're dead and when you are you won't know it. So, keep on writing and having fun.
