Default Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others where Freedom Of Association is concerned

Now just hold on there, Skippy! I thought in our brave new world we can no longer practice Freedom of Association, especially as a business. But you can choose to deny lodging and access, especially to those you deem as "White Nationalist".

(notice WaPo breaking what used to be basic rules of journalism, such as editorializing during a news story.....)

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.8612e3258bfb

After a series of raw-throated public confrontations earlier this year, Charlottesville is bracing for an influx of white nationalists from across the country to Saturday’s “Unite the Right” rally.

But visitors might have a problem nailing down accommodations. As city leaders worked Monday trying to defuse an increasingly tense situation, the lodging rental company Airbnb quietly booted users who it believed were searching for lodging to attend the rally.

The company confirmed they had taken action in a statement to NBC29: “When through out background check processes or from input of our community we identify and determine that there are those who would be pursuing behavior on the platform that would be antithetical to the Airbnb Community Commitment, we seek to take appropriate action including, as in this case, removing them from the platform.”

And for those of us that thought the discussion about whether or not we could exclude or deny service based on "sexual preferences" was over,

Hold On!

http://www.dailywire.com/news/19162/...iro#exit-modal

Deviant journalist Skylar Baker-Jordan is sick and tired of all these darn straight people being all up in "gay spaces," particularly gay bars.

Reacting to an article from Rose Dommu at Out magazine, which scolds "misogynistic" gay men for complaining about straight women being at gay bars, Baker-Jordan complains about straight people of both sexes, suggesting only straights with proper invites should be allowed access to such gay establishments.

You should sue for access to the gay bars Mo. they're a lot of fun!

They have bingo with drinking (like beer pong), and there's always dancing for your lady friend. I presume you can't dance yourself.

Yeah, there's always the two dudes making out in the corner, or playing prostate poke in the bathroom stalls, but there are animals everywhere.

White straight bigoted men are the pariahs of society. Excluding them is almost a civic duty.

Mohican, if there's ever a "Unite the Right" rally in Atlanta, you can stay at my house.

And I can probably finagle us a couple of invitations to a gay bar too.

We'll have a blast!

It would make a great story, that.

When I was in college a buddy and I went out of town for a wedding. We wanted to get primed for the rehearsal dinner so we stopped at a bar. It did't take long to figure out it was a gay bar.

My friend said, I guess we should at least finish our drinks.

I was like, the booze here will get you just as drunk as anywhere else...

Yeah -- we got most of a suite finished in the basement for my folks. Mohican could stay there. It also has an outside entrance, so he could sneak in prostitutes and the kids wouldn't see it.

I'd put in a scene in it where he's in one of those studies -- the kind where they hook up anti-homosexual guys to some kind of equipment -- then they show them gay porn and see if they get a boner.

Been to heaps of gay bars, sometimes by choice. I prefer them. Never any fights. No seedy drunkard glaring at you from the corner trying for enough eye contact to justify a fight (they usually glare at you with the hope of starting something else that begins with "f"), and if you're after women it's a pretty hot place to find 'em. What's more, the women in a gay bar are starved for attention - even though they're surrounded by men none of them could care less about how hot she looks. It's pretty easy to start a conversation for this reason, and even more so with the gays. All you have to put up with for these benefits is a few guys trying to swallow each other's faces, and the occasional proposition to take part.

Heh. What kind of bars did go to where there was an imminent danger of fights breaking out? Sounds great!

A lot of gay bars where I live have closed -- and my city was and probably still is a gay mecca in the south to some degree. There's just not as big a need for them.

They should probably put the the ones that are left on the list of registered American historical sights.

I grew up in a county town in Australia that had the unenviable reputation of having way too many assaults per capita. There was a pub called The Standard Hotel where somone was bashed to death three weeks in a row. They eventually shut it down.

It was extremely rare to go to a bar on a weekend and not see at least one fight. All the pubs closed at four AM and since there was no public transport (small town and all) everyone would congregate at the central taxi rank and massive brawls would break out every time. Was a pretty crap place to live, but I hear it's changed a bit in recent years.

Yeah, I've never been to place quite like that. There was a bar for locals where I went to school -- if you were student, it wasn't a very good idea to go there.

I went there one night, because I was tired of all the usual hangouts and drunk frat boys -- and everywhere I sat, someone would say, you can't sit there, that's so and so's seat.

When I was interning, I went to this biker bar almost every night. They weren't club bikers, but guys you didn't want to fuck with. They took a liking to me for the most part and they liked my girlfriend.

There's was a guy who always sat at the bar and drank iced tea. One day I came in really strung out and all he said was, "you don't have to live like that." There were other factors, but it was at just the right time and it resonated.

A few weeks later I saw him at one of the secret meetings and he gave me a big hug.

What was really weird -- he showed up at the hospital when my first daughter was born. I have no idea how he found out. But soon after that, he died of a massive heart attack where he worked, so I never had a chance to ask him.

I wrote a story based on all that -- but it's not very good...

Sounds like he was a good guy. I imagine battling a common enemy like addiction would make for strong bonds.

There are strong bonds. And the good thing is if you take your cues from guys like that, it's not a battle. It becomes something incredibly positive.

There are very few places where if you're respectful you still get in trouble. But I've been to a few of those, too....
