Default 2020

My vision is like the year
Still sitting here
But I had visions that I was there
Not a magician but my premonitions are usually clear
Iím guided by sight and itís precision I use to steer
On a revisionist mission my decisions I never fear
Through a process of fission like an apparition I will appear
In what could seem like confusion I use fusion to disappear
As I travel through time I hope my mind will persevere
The body is frail and it could only worsen here
Iím looking to the future even if Iím the only person there

I realise 2020 is a reference to impeccable vision, but with the premonition aspect I'm thinking it could go on to describe the future. So I read this as a rap. I messed about with it thinking how I would use the lyrics with a beat. I wrote in the third person because premonition etc is a little grandiose for me:

Looking to the future even if he’s the only person there
the body is frail and it could only worsen here
his vision is like the year
2020 but Still sitting here,
fixed in a snare,
a one dimensional square,
a mystical lair, a system of fear with vision impaired,
but wisdom is there in a magician whose premonitions are clear
guided by the light and its precision he used to steer
The body decays through fission — his apparition appears
on a revisionist mission, decisions seem twisted and weird (<— I’ll be honest this is more for cadence than anything else!)
He travels through time and disappears
Hoping his mind will persevere

I'd be happy to build on and record this when I get a chance just for kicks, also thinking it needs to go further than 2020 though it does roll off the tongue nicely.

There would just be a lot of subject matter to play with if we said 2080... y'know global warming, oil depletion, rise of China etc, rise of the global south in general, robot wars... browning of traditionally white countries. 2020, I dunno, Oprah running for pres

I also read it as a vision of a future and since I'd read your name first I thought it might be a machine Hydrolic speaking! Then I read John Constantine's post and realized it was about getting glasses. Is that right? I like the future poem best; it is very fun.

Itís not about getting glasses but more so about having vision. Vision of the here and now and vision of the future.
