Default Poem or verse.

Hi Gang---In the year two thousand, it was the eve before valentine day. On an inspiration I thought I would stop and get my wife a valentine card. The cards were well picked over (procrastinator extraordinaire) I finally selected what I considered to be the best of a poor lot. When I got home and examined it, I was utterly discussed. It consisted of a piece of red paper folded like a book, with a piece of imitation lace folded over it. There was a cut out portion on the lace that allowed the words My Valentine to show through, I canít even remember the verse inside.
Anyway I made a red heart folded it in the middle, printed the words My Valentine on the outside. On the inner portion wrote this verse.

My Valentine

It happened many years ago,
Across a crowded room.
I spied the girl of my dreams,
Her beauty all abloom.

Now she had charms and beauty,
For the entire world to see.
But I tried to persuade her,
To save them all for me.

Many, many years have passed,
Since that fateful day.
And she has stood beside me,
Every step along the way.

Now as we two approach,
Our golden years of life.
I think it was a miracle,
That girl became my wife.

I have always considered this to be a verse, but my friend and peers seem to think it is poetry. I hope you enjoyed it.
Talk to you soon---ablelaz.

I consider this to be poetry, ablelaz.

I enjoyed this a lot, and I hope the lady it was written for did, too.

This is the second poem you have posted that I have thoroughly enjoyed. You're a very talented writer, and I hope to see more of your work in the future.

Hey Abelaz,

The fact that she kept you on after the card is pretty telling.
A lovely piece and well crafted.

It is not born of want, desire or need. It is born of compulsion and expression and passion.
