Please check out "9&60 Ways - Meter - mini-lesson 1 - iambic rhythm" http://www.writersbeat.com/showthread.php?t=56566.

This is the first in a series of mini-lessons on how to control word rhythms.

I know that some of you write, at least some of the time, in formal verse, while others do not. Some of you believe in writing entirely by feel rather than any sort of formal analytical approach - and that's fine: there are, as Hoi Lei (quoting Rudyard Kipling) said, "There are nine and sixty ways of constructing tribal lays,/And-every-single-one-of-them-is-right!"

That said, even those who write in free verse are conscious of word rhythms. Learning something about how to consciously control them and gaining practice in doing so cannot be harmful.

I hope that you will find this useful.

I look forward to being helpful in that regard.

Lon
