Default Future Present Past

As I put my sandwich to my mouth
I begin to wax philosophical
The pointlessness of life is my theme
This two dollar coffee is irrational

The future keeps falling into the present
The present keeps falling into the past
The past keeps nipping at my heels
Seems like nothing's meant to last

I paid my rent again today
Looks like I'm stuck in this hellhole
Just getting older by the minute
Why I hang on, I really don't know

The future keeps falling into the present
The present keeps falling into the past
The past keeps nipping at my heels
Seems like nothing's meant to last

I'm a regular here at the Waffle House
But if I died they wouldn't miss me
Passing through on the way to nowhere
At least my next two cups are free

I eat out now every meal
All these girls expect a tip
She'll only give it to her boy friend
I'll keep my money, give her the slip

The future keeps falling into the present
The present keeps falling into the past
The past keeps nipping at my heels
Seems like nothing's meant to last
