Default Moral Relativism

This will be a moderated thread

Moral Relativism - First, Iíll give a simple definition. Even at risk of the infinite reactions sometimes received for putting a stake in the ground with a ďrealĒ definition.

Moral Relativism https://legal-dictionary.thefreedict...ral+Relativism

The philosophized notion that right and wrong are not absolute values, but are personalized according to the individual and his or her circumstances or cultural orientation. It can be used positively to effect change in the law (e.g., promoting tolerance for other customs or lifestyles) or negatively as a means to attempt justification for wrongdoing or lawbreaking. The opposite of moral relativism is moral absolutism, which espouses a fundamental, Natural Law of constant values and rules, and which judges all persons equally, irrespective of individual circumstances or cultural differences.
Are you a Moral Relativist, a Moral Absolutist, or do you view yourself as something in between?
If you lean toward being a Moral Absolutist, what drives that? What informs your moral choices? A belief system ie a religious belief system?
Can you be a Moral Relativist if you are religiously grounded?
On the flip side, if you do not have any religious grounding, can you develop a position as a Moral Absolutist if you ground your beliefs in ďNatural LawĒ?

("...there is no such thing as an absolute, in its place are "relatives" building up to "extremes" perhaps..." mentioned the goblin, adding "...where even extremes have their opposite inside them too, good actions can have bad consequences, just as bad actions their good consequences, life is not an american comic book, it's more subtle than that...")

I think the question is too broad. At this size itís just a philosophy puzzle game with no right answers. Maybe we could narrow the parameters?

Translation:

What you said is hysterical for reasons you can't see, but I'm not going to tell you why because there's a good chance I've got things backwards.

It's brilliant!

Hey now, letís keep in mind this is a moderated thread. Youíre being disruptive here. How about taking a crack at the OP?

Relativist or absolutist? Pretty simple question, I think.

All threads are moderated on this site. Secondly the OP was not the one claiming the question was muddied. To say it needed modified to find a right or wrong answer tends to be asking for an absolute. That ties into part of the original question. Now you claim it is a pretty simple question. Which is it?

The OP rarely offers his opinions on the questions he asks.

Being on this site for nearly a decade I have seen a dirth of talent come and go. I have also seen plenty of smart asses come and go. And I have been a contributor as well as a smart ass around here. But if someone does the research they will find that I am not a shit starter. I will retaliate when someone gives me the smart mouth. If they don't like it they need to keep a civil tongue in their head or shutup. Simple enough.

As for me being disruptive is that the reality of it or is it that maybe you don't like being called out for a post that should be self explanatory rather than confusing. You decide.

As for the subject of robes around here some of them should come with a hood and eye holes.

You see Myers? Itís easy to troll a troll into doing what you want.
You should take notes here.

Okay... Gaines. You are a fucking retard. Have you been watching me at all for the last five years? Apparently not, because you stepped right into it dude!

All threads are not moderated here, not these days anyway. Maybe that shit will come back someday, and then Iíll think about it more.

This thread IS moderated however. Itís a new thing Mo is trying. I think itís okay, maybe itíll spread, dunno.

So this comment will probably disappear when Mo gets back from evening mass. But... Iíll know you read it😆

Heh.

It did take exhaustive research -- I had to go all the way back to this morning to find an example of you being a shit starter.

Now we know that even if you think my song is "simplistic and puerile" -- which is fine -- you didn't come into the thread to offer contstructive criticism -- which can only mean you wanted to start some shit, probably because of some stupid grudge on your end.

So if you're in denial over something that happened just today, what does that tell us?

That you're deluded, or not all that bright or some combination of those -- and it's a good bet that it's a habit, even if you've managed to convince yourself it's something you don't do.

My point is, if you're a shit starter, just own it. Now that I've brought it to your attention, don't be a pussy and pretend that you're taking some kind of high ground.

Yeah -- and I guess when you have to turn in your Santa suit to the guys at the mall, it can be pretty depressing. I'll try and cut him some slack.

And come to think of it -- he might have some serious memory issues too.

He just told an Elton John/gay/dick sucking joke. So apparently, he thinks it's 1978.

Sometimes Iím a shit starter. Not so much these days since Iíve quit drinking. I do try and help people who are honest about their intentions. Some people are dishonest about their intentions and donít even know it.

I donít hold grudges. Mo has said outright that Iím an idiot who spews ďword saladĒ at times, but he knows thatís not true, and so do I. He has an opinion of the world and possible solutions Iím sure. I have some too. We donít see eye to eye a lot, but I still think discussing things with him is worthwhile. In order to find a truth you have to listen openly to both (or all) sides.

Like Gaines says, Iím perfectly capable of defending myself. And I choose carefully where to do that.

Ultimately, I want honest conversation. There are very few places that can be found these days. I guess I run the risk of emptying this forum by being aggressive, but it is what it is.

If you want to play with the big dogs, you canít be peeing with the puppies.

Wow, between the little red devil and the man bun there must be some serious dick pic swapping going on.

You two liars need to man up and face the fact that the blowjob novel you are contemplating to co-author will be from the kneeling point of view on your parts and others.

Troll, along with the man bun, is outdated but you hang in there something else will come along that will tickle your feckless fancies.

What a couple of peggers.

What a fucking moron.

The man bun is an ironic avatar chosen by Mohican.

Did you log in today determined to make a complete ass of yourself?

If so, you have succeeded beyond your wildest dreams.

How is anyone lying exactly?

Really, Gaines -- now is the time to skulk away and hope your comments in these threads today sink quickly and people forget about them.

Are you drunk? Are you just angry and stupid?

So hard to tell.

Iíve never sucked a dick before, nor am I contemplating such a move. Being a man, and having one, I probably could but it just doesnít interest me. I also donít know Myers in real life but I can spot someone being honest by their words over time, and I can also spot someone who isnít.

So, if youíre looking to get your dick sucked, Iím not your man. But if you need some help with a story, Iíd be happy to help.

Damn -- that's pathetic!

The man bun suits you and quit lying about your penchant for pole smoking. You and your little red girlfriend share more than just idle pillow talk. It's obvious.

Myer is a complete moron with a simplistic and puerile no talent ability for anything. You are just a sad liar but keep posting the humor is priceless.

It's 2017 and you two are still trying to hide in the closet...pathetic.
