The Real Double Standard

Many people screamed "double standard" recently when a hottie blonde school teacher got probation instead of prison for having sex with a 14-year-old boy student. The screamers pointed out if the genders had been reversed, a male teacher would be locked up for many years.

Which is true, but that isn't the double standard at work here.

In spite of disingenuous prattle about psychological "harm," honest people admit it is normal for a young boy to have sexual fantasies about a good-looking adult woman (and quite unharmful if he is lucky enough to fulfill those fantasies.)

Young girls, on the other hand, are not supposed to have sexual thoughts about adult men. If they do, they are considered abnormal, corrupt and precociously slutty. The real double standard is this prudish moral judgment about girls.

Don't get me wrong. Adult men should keep their hands off of seductive young girls for more than one reason. If they don't, they will be crucified by the legal system and the girl's reputation will be slandered for life.

But let's not apply the same hypocrisy to female adults who make a boy's wildest dream come true. His reputation will be enhanced and she doesn't belong in prison with predatory child rapists. The guardians of society may feel the need to perpetuate the myth that girls have no sexual desires when they are old enough to conceive children, but not at the expense of adult women if the gender situation is reversed.

And, yes, I wish my Spanish teacher had allowed me to seduce her when I was 14. She was a babe and single, too.

starrwriter, would you happen to remember if it was a judge or jury trial?

Thanks,
Jay

I don't think it was a jury trial, but the judge decided the sentence.
