I do write non-fiction, but would like to try. Here is an effort, please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Get your own website

Why have a website?
It is probably vital, if you like me, have never been published before but are trying desperately to get something, anything published.

Why? Because this could be your showcase, when ‘touting’ your work and you have no references of published work. You can say to potential employers “see my website”. Distribute business cards with your site address on it. Get read. Get known!

What can I put on it? Keep a journal on it. It will make you write regularly. Even if you have no inspiration to continue a work in progress, this is just a journal, a record of things that have happened, no inspiration required. Right? But you are still writing.
Keep articles or short stories you have written on it.
If you have been published and/or have won competitions, then list them.
All publicity is good.
