Default Introducing storylines early?

Hey everyone.
I am currently writing a novel and I want to insert a few different storylines into it. I need to include these storylines in order for the reader to understand the overall plot better.

I read something that said you should wait until the end of Act 1 to introduce a second storyline.

Do you have to do that or can you introduce them whenever you feel they could fit in to the story? I have several storylines that need introducing.

You can, of course, do as you please.

I would tend to read, and have read, anything that doesn't overload my reference ability at the story inception.
Through the smoke and fog there comes a form ... shape shifting ... could this be the Future?

I think the key is t make the introduction feel natural and not forced. Decide on the why and where a plot line will come into play and this will guide you to know when it will become involved with the characters or the reader.
