Default The "good" music thread

I have come to the realization that the "what are you listening to" thread is pointless. Do you actually read what songs people are listening to or end up listening to them yourself?

Ever want fellow forumers to actually hear the stuff you are listening to? Well here's your chance.

Every post in this thread will be you linking to the song on youtube that you are listening to. Bear with me, you're probably thinking, this is just going to be another spamming thread. No. Before you can post a link to your song you have to tell the last poster what you thought of his/her song.

This way we can get a feel for what music your internet friends are into.

I'll start it off:

Piano Lessons - Porcupine Tree - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CvxoeasJ2E

Good song, rminds me a bit of Oasis back in the 90's. Is this a recent band? I have never heard of them. My turn, no pressure!

Porcupine tree has been around for a while now, since the early ninties, it started with Stephen Wilson (Lead singer) on his own with a drum machine, a guitar and a passion. They're still going strong.

As for Electric Feel, that reminded me of 70's disco but I actually liked it. It's a really catchy song and I'm surprised that with 10,000,000 views I've never heard of it.

That was one long song!!! It was cool how it sounded like three different genres of music all in one. This was a great idea Mr. Gryn, I have been wanting to find some new music to get into.

Yeah, most of the bands I listen to have 10 minuters or more as the norm but I'll try not to post too long of songs.

That band reminded me a lot of Cold play but it was different and better in so many ways. I like how the piano bar just repeats and the intensity of the song builds up around it. It seemed like the video was a tribute to a boxer.

This will be my last song of the night because I got to head out soon so if I don't respond after your next post I will be sleeping lol.

Now that was a fantastic tune! I am inclined to listen the other video's posted of theirs.

Now for something completely different! I thought I would add my fave home-grown song at the moment. The video is very creative!

What, you reckon half the threads in this forum are meant to have a point?

I don't think it's pointless and and I do read what people are listening to. It's interesting the variety of tastes here.

I don't know if you'd like their other stuff, they're a death metal band that occassionally has lapses of mellow acoustic stuff. I'm at school right now so I can't go on youtube but tonight I'll post a response to your song.

Well yeah, discussion and debate. It seems that the what are you listening to thread belongs in the board games area.

I like to hear what people think of what I'm listening to so that's why I created this thread.

That song wasn't really up my alley though it was a little catchy, the video was neat though I didn't understand the whole piggy back riding thing.

The lead singer from blackfield is the lead singer from porcupine tree aswell.

I have heard Super Massive Blackhole before I just don't know from where. It's a pretty good song, I especially like the chorus. In time is running out it does look like they put on quite a show. I saw opeth live with a bunch of other bands.

Interesting stuff you've all got here! Here's a little stuff to kick you up

The guitar isn't as prominent in this song as in some others, but you can still see the guitarist showing off his mad skills. His name is MIchael Romeo, and he's one of the true greats of our time.

I remember seeing that a while ago, the solo is pretty good I just don't like the music as much. If you like fast prog like that you might like this:

I know Him So Well - John Barrowman & Daniel Boys.

I love the twist to this that they are either singing about a lover they share but because it is two men singing they could be singing about each other and it becomes a love song with pathos.

That was a bit gay, and I'm a gay man! lol. Great song though, prefer the orginal, even Susan Boyle/Elaine Paige version is better to me.

Here's a wonderfully great song by my favorite band:

Fleetwood Mac "Dreams"

(Sadly, I'm too new to post a link but I had to share anyway!)

Good thread idea btw.

Nice song reminds me of my dad lol

I love the Susan Boyle/Peter Kay version, but neither of them crawled inside my head and inspired a couple of characters.

I think my playlist for my stories out gays my gay bestfriend - and he has a very pink list.

From the same festival - loads of fun but still with pink shirts
Friendship - Jodie Prenger, Daniel Boys, John Barrowman.

That was pretty gay too. Didn't click with me at all, I'm sad to say. Pity, I was all geared up to enjoy it.

Now, for a song by the most adorable woman on the planet.

I'm not sure why I'm so strongly reminded of the Harvest Moon videogame, and her adorable-ness is somehow eerie, but in a good way.

LoverBoy reminds me of something I can't quite recall. I can picture them, though, in a saloon playing their instruments all theatrical and showbiz, to a crowd of surly drunks, serious and filthy from work in the mines. That's what it sounds like to me.

I just got into this band. They're fantasmically incredible. (This is one of their more mellow songs.)

The Green Fields of France by Dropkick Murphys and on a completely different note The Scalding Wife by Great Big Sea.
Both songs sort of inspire the opposite ends of the emotional spectrum.

And sadly I am not computer literate enough to post links. Both are on Youtube though.

Wow, I absolutely loved that song, thank you Goblin. It has a post-rock kind of feel to it. Plus, the start of it reminded me of my girlfriend, cos she used to suffer from bulimia. Well thank you for that.

("...well human, I'm probably going to let the side down soon enough here, as I can't stay sane for long it seems, but before I flip I'd just better say that I liked your choice too..." mentioned the goblin wondering which he would post next, saying "...sometimes one gets fed up with english...")

repost from elsewhere

the goblin is thinking about the crop circles again, and thinking something obvious too, that we are not alone but that it changes nothing for the average person living today, anymore than those colonists changed much when they first turned up in America, "...later perhaps but not now, besides if they were hostile towards us, wouldn't they just take what they want, so just how many more crops circles have to appear before we either find the human culprits who are capable of these sudden overnight super human feats, or accept the more likely explanation here..." ventured the goblin at it

I have to admit, I really did not like that other song though. It sounds too much like something that might have been on the Eurovision Song Contest. It had moments that I really liked, but then they stopped, and it disappointed me.

I'm taking this opportunity to post my favourite band, and an Irish band.

("...tastes differ I suppose..." replied the goblin, adding "...that's why writing becomes a choice amongst many authors to suit one's changing mood at the time...", in fact, the goblin often liked news music, but then, when he had heard it too often, much as he liked some song still he wanted something new, saying "...here's one that I loved once...")
