("...no, don't get me wrong, I like seasoned trolls too, I'm on their forums often enough..." mentioned the goblin noting their staying power, repeating "...so it's a writer's way with words, an illustrator's eye for pictures, and a troll's tenacity to keep posting on too, just how to go about it isn't it, need I say more humans or have I said enough now...", in fact, writertypes often got disheartened with not meeting their own expectations thus they simply gave up as seen, whereas trolls stayed on then, but eventually even trolls became over defensive resulting in those stunted posts as seen, smiling "...thus at times writers need to troll and at times trolls need to write, that's all...")

Tor left and then Max Crash left because a couple virulent hounded them relentlessly about their decision to vote for tRUMP.

One of these virulent anti tRUMPERs threw a public fit, including an "I'm quitting because staff keeps removing my (vicious insult laden) posts"....

and then went about his business posting under another screen name......

It's just words and words are our business as writers. We shouldn't be afraid of them. I'm not outraged, phoney or otherwise. It's just very boring and I wish people would grow the fuck up and deal with things themselves instead of whining to a Mod as a kind of surrogate parent to sort out their battles for them.

Of course it's censorship. Not all censorship is bad.

There is a standard of behavior that is expected.

Telling someone else that they are a dick sucker is out of bounds for this forum.

Posting other things of a personal nature aren't allowed, either.

Those comments will get edited out, and the person will get a warning or some form of ban, depending on severity.

There you are, what you missed and what "WB staff" Mohican claims isn't political. Now it is just one opinionated comment without the name --

1. spshane "got time in the cooler" - (at this point you are "back seat modding - something that I''ll let pass-this time) . You won a accumulative prize for long term effort.

2. A note to Beesauce: If staff (meaning myself or Prodigal at this point) edits a post or erases it then it should not be put back on, redacted names or not.

As unevenly as they've been enforced, there are actually rules regarding personal attacks. Enforcing those rules isn't "censorship."

There's no guarantee of free speech on private internet forums. As much as I'd love to say whatever I want about other members, I recognize there are limits, and if I go past them, there will be consequences.

But ignoring these simple facts, and whinging about "censorship?" Well some people love phony outrage and feeling like they are being persecuted. It's nonsense.

I try to be evenhanded. There are a lot of people who have gotten PMs about things.

I can't spend the time to thoroughly patrol this place. so I hit the high traffic areas. Or if someone PMs me about an issue I resolve it.

There are free speech zones on the internet. Having participated in several internet writing forums, I would say that Writer's Beat is the most relaxed site. But you are correct that there are rules. There are refugees from other writing forums, active and defunct that have commented to this effect.

In the writing sections, (to my recollection) I haven't edited any posted work.

Things that I will erase (in the writing sections):

Child porn
Anything legally actionable

Things that I might move - overtly "adult" things that aren't placed in the adult section.

But when it comes to divisive rhetoric disguised as “hey man, it’s just what I believe, so deal with it,” I am always going to say something. ..

But, like I said, truly divisive (for its own sake) rhetoric and dogma affects us all, the whole planet, and while it’s not my “job” to do anything about it, I feel compelled to call it out, and in some circles that gets one a “time-out.”

I know. Whenever someone refers to a whole cross section as an irredeemable, or another refers to the same cross section as "clinging bitterly to their guns and religion" then we should all call these people out and strongly admonish them for their divisiveness.

I have thought about merging this with other threads, but it might come off as snarky.

Again, with brianpatrick returned to the fold, and despite his desire and need for an homage will close this thread before it can seriously degenerate.
