That's weird, the issue isn't working for me. It just brings up a tab which then proceeds to do nothing.

Edit: oh, wait, nevermind. The savey thing made it work. 8 minutes to download, though...ooh, now 7...anticipation...

It's just because I was using a weak wireless connection. The zine looks amazing, HoiLei! I love the new formatting!

Can't forget to mention the new "Overheard on the Beat" in this issue! It's a bunch of random quotes from members on the forum, mixed into the different pages. Be sure to check it out to see if you've been immortalized on the Quarterly!!!

Just a note here: Steven Lin is meant to be the same as the author of the poem on the same page, yes (Erosion poems)? His name is spelt Steven/Stephen on the same page -- whichever is correct. Just pointing it out in case of error.

However, aside from that, a really nice issue; good to see you guys are going landscape.

Some nice ideas and additions (including the 'overheard' feature!).

Cheers for a great read.

Whoops! My bad. Thanks for catching it, SW! I think it should be Stephen, but I'll double-check and correct it.

And thanks for the compliments, everyone! Lots of credit is due to the whole editorial staff, who work together to get everything ready. As for the layout, I have a blast doing it, and I'm glad you like it.

With a fantastic surname like that, it hardly matters how his first name is spelled.

Lin's modest about it, but he really helped a lot. I hardly knew what a pdf was and he helped me figure out how to make one with links!

Sorry Hoi, just in this modern day, even I know what a pdf is.

I'm sure you're an expert now.

Great issue, lots of nice interesting writing, but Andrew Braun's semicolons was my favourite; I've been using them without really knowing them for years, but now feel I do! Hopefully that was a correct usage...

What a wonderfully presented e-zine. Credit to all those involved. It's respledent and vivacious, while also being easy to negotiate and fun to read. Having worked on newspapers all my life, I know how hard it is (and how stressful the editing process can be) to create a publication that appeals to everyday readers.

Kudos.

I realize that I should probably make public the message I sent to HoiLei about this
Which was:

Oh, it's just great. Some of the pages are as good as anything you'd see anywhere, in any pro publication. The credit page with the girl levitating or whatever: wonderful.

The cover is also a winner. I like it because it sort of defies being "bagged". It doesn't really look like a lit mag thing, but if you know it is, then it fits. It could be a children's book, a nature channel mag, anything.

The little fillers nabbed from posts is really genius.

You did yourself proud with this, lady.*

Bravo, HoiLei, and the rest of the WBQ team! The latest issue looks wonderful, and I love the horizontal layout - much easier to read. I'd offer some constructive criticism, but honestly, I don't have any. Keep up the excellent work!

[cough] Return? What return?

I get exceedingly giddy inside when my inbox tells me there's a new WBQ! Oh, this issue is so great. So many wonderful pieces, and the the articles! The punctuation article was a hoot! I do believe I fall across about three of the categories . . . hm.

It was great to have a good excuse to put work away for a moment and have a good laugh/read. GREAT issue. And the layout looks lovely!.

I'm going to read it now. Be back soon.

EDIT: I am half-way through reading it but shall probally go to bed now. I would just like to say:
'This is only the 2nd every WBQ that I am reading but it is most defiently eaiser to read than last time because of the horizontial layout. The articles are intresting to read and I love the 'Overheard on the Beat' section - I've just read a quote from Gaines. Very intresting. Thank you to everyone who helped with this issue, it makes for good bedtime reading since I finished my book today. Erm, I'll shut up now and share the rest of my thoughts tomorrow after I've finished reading it.'

EDIT AGAIN: Scrolling down to look at all the 'Overheard on the Beat' sections before I go, when I stumbled across:

What the guide has to say on the subject of 'Slick
Jimmy': A member of HomoSapien
species of Earth.
Male. Has an ego the size of a planet, otherwise harmless.
Avoid if your name is 'Essence'.
- Weirdo, post 232392, Board Games

Just wanted to say, ahaha I love WB and everyone (near enough) here. Night all.

This is the first WBQ i have actually read (just joined in Oct. I have a valid excuse. Hmmppff.) and I must say, it really made me proud to be a member of this forum. I really made me feel more serious about my writing. I just want to thank everyone who put it together.

Thanks. I owe you all a beer. Or a coffee. Whatever yer poison is...

Thanks for the feedback (in three edits), Essence! I'm glad you enjoyed the bedtime reading, and as for the Overheard quotes... the staff has fun collecting them!

And theGREYjohn, hot chocolate is fine! We have a cocoa smiley. I'll be sure to share the marshmallows with the others... it's a staff project to put the WBQ together. We all work at it, and we're glad to provide it to the community.

I have a suggestion for the word vault

You should add the word "onomatomania" which means when you get annoyed because you cant find the right word.

I suggest an alternate definition: "an exuberant love, bordering on obsession, for sound effects"!

What kind of "sound effect?"

A particular sound effect.... such as the expulsion of a certain gas??
