Ah, it's great to see this thread.

I'm not yet done with my novel (50k words now but I'm in the process of editing those too..) , but I'd be very happy to give slap-in-the-face honest feedback to anything yous have written. So should anyone be interested in critique, let me know.

I also have a suggestion about copyright/plagiarism issues, although not sure how useful that'll be. Why not have each person sign a copyright form that could be tailored into something like "With my signature I guarantee I will not use the material provided by [Name] .." I'm not very advanced in the legal department.

I shall be back once my work is finished.

I agree with Rincewind, don't worry about people infringing your copyright.

Instead, worry about people agreeing to critique your work and then not bothering after the first few pages, after you've made the effort to critique all of theirs. It happened to me.

I am looking to have one of my novels read, I'd prefer the first one read first. It is called "For Family" and is about 90k words long, it's a fantasy adventure book, teenage-early adult I guess. I will read anyone's book that offers to read mine. PM me if you are interested.

My novel is around 44k and 90 pages. I don't really have a title, but i was thinking of The Take Over. It's a sci/fi teens i think. It's like an alien invasion that looks more end of the world zombie attack, but it isn't. it goes from the point of a teen trying to figure out and stop the invasion. I would like grammar and content checked. With other i can check content, but i'm not so great at the grammar thing. I prefer shorter pieces, but i could deal with longer writtings. I read mine in a few hours, but i also wrote it, but i am fast. Now, though, it might take me awhile because i am driving somewhere, but it wont take too long. PM me if interested.

Right guys, I'm up for it. I'll read yours (not religion, romance or erotica), and you can read mine.

My book genre is dystopian, paranormal.

Pm me if anyone is interested, length is 47k. I'll read anything up to 60k.

book title, "Memoirs of a Muslim Porn Star"
length, 50 pages, 29k words
genre (can be a blurb), Memoir/Autobiography
what kind of feedback you'd like, and: I need help stretching out the details and painting a picture, anything someone can add will be helpful
what you're willing to do/read. I can read memoirs. I am not a great critic, I have a difficult time expanding my opinion but I am willing to read any memoirs/autobiographies

Curious: Are any of you really connecting with one another? Or are we all blabbing into thin air the synopses of our books?

I'm really curious. Any successful exchanges?

Not necessarily true. People sometimes forget, and once you get their attentions again, they're all like, "Oh, yeah!"

Or maybe no one's interested. Lol. Could be people are busy.

I'll read for others. I know I'm new and haven't said too much here, I'm quiet,it's my characters who are loud ;-) I've critiqued several novels for a published author and five or six others working on it.

I don't like religion, westerns. I like dark and twisted, erotic is fine, gore is fine. No violence towards children or animals.

Umm I think you have misunderstood the concept of a "Novel Exchange". You swap your written Novel for a crit with somebody else whose Novel you crit.

It's called Novel Exchange not A few chapters exchange. Use the other parts of WB to post up chapters for comments. This thread is different. It's for people willing to go the extra yard and critique a whole novel (and write one).

Get it?

I connected a while back, got some really very useful crits on 2 of my novels from a few people. One especially has become an on-going crit swap with me.

EDIT: I'm still looking for more! (and willing to swap) - see my previous posts

Nope. But its cool. I am way over trying to get people to read my work in progress so that they can tell me that they could not stomach getting past the first sentence or that its just not what they like to read about.

Ive offered to do betas for people on here (cough cough owen I sent you a pm) but...

First: You should utilize the forum and post a few chapters or even something else you are working on - get to know people to decide who will be a good beta fit ! I promise a beta who is honest is a life savor!

Second: Once you get feedback here go and make sure you are tip top

Third: Start to ask about your beta with others who you think will be a good match. They don't have to like your genre but don't you think you should see if their reviews and such are matching up with what you need?

This is all what I did by the way!

Default Beta Reader Wanted!

Hello,
I would like to have someone read my story and offer as detailed a critique as they would like. I've already shared chapters of this story here on Writer's Beat, averaging 80 to 100 readers for each chapter. I've received a few comments (Thanks, Rincewind and kc1082), but would like more.

Here are the details:
BOOK TITLE: OH HOLY NIGHT
LENGTH: 151 pages, 45,000 words
GENRE: This is a mystery/thriller/love story, that takes place during the Christmas season
FEEDBACK: I would like to someday publish this story, so I am interested in receiving as much of a review as possible - story construction, grammar, etc.
WHAT I'M WILLING TO DO/READ: I enjoy reading thrillers, (i.e books by Vince Flynn, James Patterson, Tom Clancy) and historical novels such as those by William Martin - Back Bay, Cape Cod, Harvard Yard. I am willing to read and comment on a story, offering my thoughts and suggestions. I am new at this, so I'd like to learn to walk before I run, when it comes to offering critiques. I live in the US, and while I am familiar with some British writing, I'd be more comfortable reviewing an American writer.

If anyone is interested, please let me know.

"Norm de Plume"

Icon10 Hello :o)

I am so glad I found this site I have two books completely written they are part of a trilogy and I am currently working on the last book of the trilogy. I also have another vampire book which I am about half way through writing.
My trilogy is about shifters. It is geared towards the YA audience.
Each of the Novellas are roughly 50k words and around 118 pages. So relatively fast reads.
I would love to swap books and critiques I love to read just about anything I can get my hands on. If you are interested in reading anything I have done and would like to swap let me know. I am new to this forum and new to the publishing world. if you have any questions feel free to message me.
Thanks

Not sure if you were meaning me or not FutureFootball. LOL so I thought
I would take a chance and answer anyways The first book has more of a romantic aspect then the others, though I would not call it a romance novel. The second book in the trilogy is more of a journey. Its essentially about 3 species the Gifted, the Eldon and the Shanis. that have been locked in a feud that has been raging on for centuries. The Promised one 'Kay' comes back to her people the Shanis and the books are her journey of finding her destiny, saving her people and sifting through all the lies.
