I watched it yesterday with the kids I babysit... I don't know who liked it more, me or them.

I saw it a few weeks ago and I was crying so hard at the end. In the theater. I was literally sitting there bawling. It was bad.

Lol. I didn't cry, but I was totally engrossed in it. It was a good one.

Nah, don't feel out of place! Everyone loves a bearded gunslinger!

And that lamb(I think that's a lamb, right? I'm not so good with farm animals) is adorable!

We named her Matchgirl. She was born late the prior night and we didn't find her or her brother until morning. They were both very weak and cold; that's why she was on a heating pad. She lived up to her name last night, when she died. No matter how hardened I get when it comes to slaughtering them; they are raised for food. It always sucks when I can't save the babies.

I have a hard time believing that.

Yup, I slaughter at 9-12months after having them (only the boys) on nothing but hay for several months. Tastes like veal. We keep the females for milking/breeding stock.

Well I don't think I would ever want to eat a goat, but goat's cheese is lovely.

In Mexico goat is like "the other fun meat"

Birria de chivito is a favorite of mine. Kid stewed in red sauce, basically.

Some places display the skulls (all simmered red and pretty much looking like satanic goat's head soup at that point)
To show they're kids, not old goats. And have horns, not collars and licence tags, I suppose.

Another biggie here is cajeta, basically goat milk cooked (and "burnt") until it is like butterscotch.
I don't see much difference between goat and cow milk for carmelizing, but they make a big deal out of having a goat's head on the label.

No, it's a bread company. Pretty much the only "sliced wonderbread" company. Their bread sucks.
But I LOVE the logo.

There's a joke in there somewhere.

In most of the world Chevon (goat meat) is eaten more often than beef or pork. I like the flavor, and so do the kids. My wife refuses to try it because she "won't have a realtionship with her food."

I had that when I lived near Durango (Colorado, not Mexico,) good stuff.

The relationship factor has to be figured, all right.

I once took a girl to a beach restaurant near Puerto Vallarta, where she loved the food but was particularly delighted by a little pig they had, which would nuzzle feet under the table and blink long, white lashes.

When she came back through in the spring I took her there again and she was tucking into some tacos de carnitas when she remembered as asked about the adorable piglet.
The Senora rolled her eyes at me, then the tacos and said, "Your friend really that naive?", reducing her to moans and a very fetching "tristesa".

That "chevon" is not a universal word, of course. And be careful when in France not to say "cheval"

Aw! What a cute (soon-to-be-dead) goat!

I'm not sure how the relationship factor would effect me, since I've never had to eat an animal I knew socially. But in general, I disassociate emotions well from food. I never understood people who cry "oh, no, how could anyone eat dog?" or deer, or squirrel, or whatever they thought was cute and wonderful and not food. I easily love dogs and can see how I might eat them if needed. Whether you shoot and eat a deer or letting someone else raise and kill a cow to sell you the meat, you're still eating an animal.
