Default Using the internet as a complimentary piece

I've been noticing that many books nowadays have a website or some other piece of new media accompanying it. Books like instructional series or technical writings usually do this. I've noticed that many programming books will have downloadable source code online that a reader has full access to (provided that they can answer a few questions about the book proving they have a copy).

What do you think of this approach?
