Default All Cried Out

Ain't got no more tears

Dry

Expending all my hoarded ammo

Won't be buyin' more

Watchin' real knife attacks on the 'net

Adjusting my hand defense skill sets

Lookin' to revive the spiritual self

A zombie walkin' start is acceptable

Twenty thirteen

Could be bad
Could be good
Could be I may not see it end

Who can know these things

I do know I fear a mortal end
Less and less
Day after day

A man's heart
Any man's heart
Can only take a finite amount of abuse

Betrayal of trust
Trust in fellow man (and woman)
Trust in governing bodies (duly elected)
Trust in one's better judgement (see the scars)

Any man's heart
This man's heart
Beaten past tender
Beaten past pulp
Beaten until it don't beat no more

Pretty true, Piercy. I like the title recycling idea a lot.

The ending of this reminds me of an idea I had for a poem called "Writer's Beat"... It goes like this;

Writers beat off,
At Writers Beat.

I like the way you negate this statement with the echo:

Trust in one's better judgement (see the scars)

I must admit. It simply never occured to me that one could make poetry out of OTS ( Old, Tired, and Stupid. ) Put your hands together for Mr. Pierce ladies and gentlemen.

Waddya say, Mr. Pierce?
Maudlin enough?

Oh yes, Nick.
It certainly is that.

I see this was originally written just after the 2012 end of the world (we had so many there for a while).

Were you disappointed?

Don’t know about Nick—suspect he was phlegmatic. But I was pissed. Fucking Mayans!
Oh, and now we’re in a new age of rebuilding the spiritual wealth to actually accomplish something great again? A new cycle? Yeah... Fuck you! I’ll be long dead by the time we figure that shit out.

The world I live in was born when this body's eyes' opened.
It (the aforementioned world) will exist until the lungs on this contraption shut off.

Of course this is all a carnal discourse.

Had to look the term up.
Used to think it had something to do with expectorate ammo.

Ooops.

And yeah, I was.

Am.

Yeah -- I walked around for what was supposed to be the last couple of days back then, singing the chorus to R.E.M.'s, "It's The End of the World" at the top of my lungs, which was so exhausting I fell asleep early, not waking until the next morning.

I'd slept through the end of the world, and no one woke me.

I was pissed.
