Do you guys listen to music as you write? If so, does it effect what you're writing?

Very much so! But it has its drawbacks too: I can waste time looking for decent music to write to, when I should be writing. But I can't write without something going on, even if it's a movie next to me on the ipad. I blame having kids and always preferring to have noise and controlled chaos around me.

What music do you listen to?

I like to imagine scenes playing out while listening to music then writing them afterwards. Not sure if it improves my writing but it does help me think up settings I am not used to writing about. One of my favourites to listen to is Skyworld by Two Steps from Hell.

yes, but it has to be music without lyrics and quite quiet. Otherwise it's a distraction.

Yep. I prefer writing to classical--Bach, Vivaldi, Grieg. The rest of the time I'm a metalhead.

Music all the time, writing, reading, sometimes with TV the volume turned off. Our home is piped for music like when I was a child, we listen inside and out. For me music is the best of life.
