Default Which is the right word to use?

Is it "walked pass", "walked past", or "walked passed"?

I had "walked past" but I think it should be "pass" instead.

If it's walking past something, it's "walked past."

"Past" is an adverb, whereas "passed" is a verb. "Past" in this case is modifying "walked." Verb, adverb. Otherwise, you'd have verb, verb.

So it would be: "He walked past the shops" and not "He walked pass the shops", right?

"Walked past" is correct. Alternatively, you could use "passed" as your verb:
"I walked past the house."
vs.
"I passed the house." (If we already know your character is walking, this will suffice.)

Edit: In your example, yes, it is "He walked past the shops."
