Default Robin Hood and the Middle Ages around 1160 - 1220

What do you know about this period and Robin? And what good books are set then so I can read something else set then? I have read a lot of more modernized versions of Canterbury tales, only to learn that they are set in the 1300s and too late. For literature I don't mind if it's 50 years out either way, but apart from that, preferably not too far from the years aforementioned. Robin Hood was born in 1160ish according to folklore, I know that. And he died aged 80ish apparently. But of course he stops doing what he does at about 30 I have decided. Thanks in advance.

I can't be of too much help here, but I'm almost sure that there is a Robin Hood museum (or used to be) in Nottingham (natch) it might be worth Googling that. I'm sure if you contacted them via email I'm sure they'd be happy to answer any of your queries.

"Robin and the Seven Hoods" with Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, Sinatra... a must-see on this topic.

Ok, thanks everyone. And I will be able to visit the museum I think on the way back or to holiday in the summer.

Have a look for books by historians. Also try these websites -

I happen to know from a very reliable source that Robin Hood was spotted with Little John walking through the forest. Apparently, they were laughing back and forth at what the "other'ne" had to say. They were also spotted "remenicin'" and "this-n'-thattin'". Golly, what a day.

Here's the proof.

No need to thank me. I'm a believer in karma.

Actually, I don't think Robin and Marion even made it to their middle ages

Apparently he made it until 80 something. (You can tell my research is going swimmingly by my vagueness.)
