Default Shadows Guide

Ok this came to me last night when I as really tiered. I dont really know what it means but hope it is acceptable, and sorry for the roughness.

Shadows Guide

The path,
knowing, calling,
leading on to all.
Ahead, your shadow guide.
Before the fork of choice.

On the path,
twisting, turning,
leading to all of nowhere.
Left behind the shadow guide.
On the right of choice.

On the path,
glancing, gazing,
getting to all of nowhere.
Right before the shadow guide.
On the left of choice.

Down the path,
walking, running,
ending in all of nowhere.
Fleeing from the shadow guide.
Away from the road of choice.

Spooky. I like it. Don't you wish you could send your shaddow out ahead of you so they could meet any danger first, giving you time to turn and run.
When you are trying to go to sleep do words bubble up from somewhere like a unwatched stew and you have to get up and write them down? If you don't they won't be still and you will never rest. Do you like to write at night? Thanks for the good read. Look forward to reading more. Friend with a pen - dorrie

Not really, words will come at any time, but when I am up and about there isn’t always paper and pen around to take it down. Also when I am tiered my writing is more from my mind then from me, hence why I don’t really know what it is at times. I have my own interpretation of the poem, but I think I will see what others think first.

Don't you love it when this happens? It's so sub-conscious, and surprising when you write it down. Plus it feels profound. I am working on the meaning of your poem. It is very intriquing, but it may be something only you understand.

Sounds a bit like addiction. Excellent work.

Well, I don't think this sounds spooky at all. It reminds me, vaguely, of Robert Frost's, The Road Not Taken. A fork in the path, a decision to be made. The shadow guide is somewhat more difficult to interpret, but could represent a parent or authority figure. In the first stanza, the shadow guide leads you on (nurture/instruction?), in the second it has been left behind (going out into the world as an independent person), in the third the shadow guide is right behind (going out into the world with support), and in the last you are fleeing the shadow guide and the path of choice (rebelling?).

Whatever this means, I enjoyed it.

Cheers,
QW

Subconscious writing would be different; there I at least know it is something I can’t understand. But this is from my mind, the thinking part, so I should know what it is on about.

Interesting ideas so far.
At one level I have considered it to be about a decision on a physical road, but I took the shadow guide in a different light then you QoW. In the physical road idea the fork are on the right and left of the guide, and slightly staggered so that the left is behind the standing guide, and the turn right is in front of the guide.

Then this morning over breakfast it accrued to me that the entire thing is about the process of choice. The forks in the road represent different choices and the guide is possibly something like the mind, or the subconscious, or maybe a actual guide, giving advise.

Well still don’t know what it means, but at least I can continue to work on it.

Oh and glade you lot liked it.
