A boy I tried to help out here a few years back ended up getting shot by the police while unarmed and running away. I made a T-shirt with a huge bull-eye and the words TRY ME NEXT - I SHOOT BACK printed on it, then I wore it down at the coffee shop the local cops frequent.

I don't mind being a target.

Now it's confirmed; you are an idiot. Is your padded cell comfortable?

Lon, I think you should be kind to Ed; you may wind up as cellmates.

Okay--they are throwing away the key. I predict a frontal lobotomy in the offing. Can you advise me about my superb poem? No, I don't want to put it there.

I've had moments like this looking out my back door in Fieldbrook, where you're aware of the timelessness of nature but suddenly the moment becomes locked in time, there to peruse in my memory forever...

Beautiful poem, Frank.

Not only that, I'm about to take my kids up to spend the night with their cousins -- so I've got these annoying family things to deal with too. Sometimes I wish I'd just stayed at home with my parents.

Ha. I ran away from my parents after I threw a pepsi bottle at my stepmother. Damn near hit her too. I think my chaotic childhood made me appreciate calm moments like sitting in my teak Adirondack chair watching the world around me. All you have to do is let it in. Okay, I stole that from the Jesse Stone series.
