Default How Could You Make Writing Easier?

When writing, what is your biggest obstacle? For me, as a journalist, creating an excellent lead is more of a challenge than I like to admit. To fix the problem, I practice writing leads that focus on who, what, when, where and why. I try to utilize the 5w's in 25 - 40 words. What is your biggest challenge as a writer and what do you do in order to fix the problem?

Description. Oh. My. Gosh. It literally takes me hours to work on one paragraph of description to get it "just so." But! . . . what I do is run through all of the senses and try to see if I can fit them all in. It actually does help, knowing what to aim for in the way of describing something. Still literally (and I do mean literally, not "literally" in the "figurative" sense) takes me hours to write a paragraph of description, though. Lol.

And I had a good chuckle at the title of your thread, CDawson. Writing's never an easy process, but there are certainly some ways to make it a *little* less difficult.

Not plagiarism... though it depends on how fine you shave it.

Why would anyone want this to be easier?

Clearer, yes.

Riveting, oh for Christ's sake, YES!
(Crap, now I may be on one of their target lists.)

Morally massaging, now wouldn't be nice if one could pull that off in this bizarro world political climate.

Maybe I misunderstood the question. Perhaps not being a "journalist" warps my slant.

Or keeps me free of Relativity's Iron Boot.

I write for a living, and I also coach writers and would-be writers, so I know just how tough it can be to get up the motivation and the courage to write.

But in almost every job, you’re going to have to do some writing. You might also want to write for personal reasons: perhaps you’d like to write your memoir for your grandchildren, or you’re keen to write fiction or a blog.

Writing for me would be a lot easier without the angst. When I write fiction I worry that it lacks any kind of substance and I feel unable to connect or care about my characters, and when I write about myself I feel like I'm standing on a table, naked, in front of a room full of people pointing and laughing or expressing distaste.

my biggest challenge in writing is choosing keywords and promotion. Also, writing a brief bio and introduction. I refer many writings to improve my introduction and bio.
